Privacy policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

This policy explains what information JC Bags (“we”) collects when you visit jcbags.com or place an order, and how we use it.

Information we collect

  • Order information: name, shipping/billing address, email, and phone number you provide at checkout.
  • Payment information: processed securely by our payment provider. We never see or store full card numbers.
  • Contact details you choose to give us: if you use a sign-up or enquiry form, the email address you enter and, only when you choose to add it, a phone number. The phone number is always optional, and we only call or text it if you separately tick the box agreeing to that. Ticking nothing means email only.
  • Usage data: pages visited and basic device information, collected via analytics to improve the site.

How we use it

  • To process and ship your orders and provide support.
  • To send order updates and, if you opt in, marketing emails.
  • To send you news about new colorways, restocks, and offers, by email if you signed up, and by text or phone only if you gave us a number and agreed to be contacted that way.
  • To understand and improve how the site performs.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers who help us operate (payment processing, shipping, email, and analytics), and only as needed to provide those services. We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time, and you may request access to or deletion of your personal data by emailing team@jcbags.com. If you agreed to texts, reply STOP to any message to stop them, or email us and we will remove your number. Withdrawing consent for texts does not affect anything else, and we keep a record of when and how consent was given so we can honour it.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site function and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Analytics and session recording

We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how the site is used. Analytics data is anonymous: pages visited, buttons clicked, and basic device information. We never store your name, email, or address in analytics, and we never sell your data.

  • Anonymous analytics run by default and cover aggregate usage, such as which pages you visit and which product features you interact with.
  • Interaction replay. We also record how pages are used (scrolling, clicks, and mouse movement) to improve the site. Anything you type is always masked, and your payment details are never visible to recording because checkout happens on Shopify's own secure pages.
  • Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we honor it automatically and do not record your session.
  • Your choice. You can turn interaction recording off for your device at any time using the control below; the setting is stored in your browser.
  • Product poll. You may see an optional one-question poll about how you would use the product. Answers are anonymous closed choices with no free-text input.

Analytics data is processed on our behalf by PostHog, Inc. on its US cloud servers and is kept only as long as needed to analyze site improvements.

Email marketing

We use Klaviyo to send marketing email to people who have opted in. When you sign up for updates on this site, the email address you enter is stored with Klaviyo so those updates can reach you. If you arrive from one of our emails or sign up on this site, Klaviyo may recognize your browser so we can send you relevant reminders, such as a note about something you left in your cart. This recognition applies only to subscribers; other visitors stay anonymous. A Global Privacy Control signal or the recording opt-out below also stops this recognition on your device, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.

Advertising

We use the Meta (Facebook) pixel and the Google tag (Google Analytics and Google Ads) to measure how the site and our ads perform: they tell Meta and Google when someone visits the site, views the product, or adds to or changes their cart. We also send Shopify, the platform that runs our store and checkout, anonymous visit and cart statistics so its dashboard reflects store traffic; this uses Shopify's own first-party cookies. We do not send any of these companies your name, email, or anything you type. A Global Privacy Control signal or the recording opt-out below stops all of them on your device, and you can manage how advertising data is used in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences and at Google's My Ad Center.
